database on treatments and interventions for a wide range
of mental health related conditions, such as:

conduct disorder)

- personality disorders
- phobic disorders
- psychosexual disorders
- schizophrenia
- sleep disorders
- somatoform disorders
PsiTri offers access to the content of the specialised trial
registers of the five mental health related Cochrane
Collaborative Review Groups. The groups submit their
updated registers to PsiTri monthly.
PsiTri contains information on
randomised controlled
trials (RCTs) or controlled
clinical trials (CCTs) only.
Psitri is more than a traditional reference
database. Whereas traditional databases contain reference
information only, PsiTri also includes information on the trials
behind these references. The trial data which is extracted from the
references reporting on a specific trial, includes information on:
health condition, interventions/treatment, participants, research
methods, blinding, outcomes, i.e. how the effect of the
interventions was measured etc.
For example:
- Buitelaar et al. have a research interest pindolol versus
methylphenidate as a treatment for children with attention-deficit
hyperactivity disorder, and thus initiate a trial, where the effect
of these both interventions is compared and tested.
- When the trial is completed, or in a phase where some
preliminary results of the effects of pindolol versus
methylphenidate on children with attention-deficit hyperactivity
disorder may be seen, Buitelaar et al. write two reports of the
results of the trial, and both of them are published. These are the
trial's references. The references report on different aspects of
the trial (research methods, participants, outcomes etc). This
information is extracted and made visible in PsiTri as well as
general reference date (title, author, source etc).
